National Mental Health Awareness Month

Spring is a time for renewal and growth and an opportunity to reflect on the beauty and resiliency surrounding us. Especially in the month of May, the process of change is evident and ever-present. It is fitting that May is also a significant time in the addiction and mental health field. May has been named "National Mental Health Awareness Month," by the President of the United States. May 12th-18th celebrates "National Prevention Week."
In an effort to encourage both Wellness and Recovery for the entire Staten Island Community, our agency will be hosting a Health Fair on Thursday, May 30th at our treatment facility. The Health Fair will provide the Staten Island community with an opportunity to learn more about healthy living, participate in free behavioral health and addiction screenings, and explore available local resources.
This is also an opportunity for other providers (legal, mental health, political, community organizations) to come share their experiences with mental health and addiction on Staten Island.
Our voices and our choices are powerful -- let's use them to promote mental health and recovery in our community!
